Magical Cherry Blossom Photos from National Geographic
There are few places on the planet where, with the advent of spring, nature blooms as magically as in Japan. The stunning delicate cherry blossom is one of the most amazing natural phenomena.
National Geographic, in order to celebrate the arrival of the most magical time of the year in Japan, invited local residents to send in their best photos of a significant event.
By the way, the Japanese are extremely scrupulous about cherry blossoms. The country's meteorological office provides a very detailed forecast for the season. The bloom front moves from south to north (also called "sakura zensen"), and the Japanese keep a close eye on it thanks to forecasts in order to fully enjoy the incredible beauty in their area.
