Daliginder Kaur is a young 72-year-old Indian mother who recently gave birth to her first child. "We've been mired in arguments for more than four decades," he says. Gill's father, Uttam Singh, passed away eight years ago and bequeathed to distribute the inheritance among his children. However, according to Gill, his four brothers refused to give him a share because he had no children and therefore had no one to take care of.

“When this dispute started, I was in my 40s and my wife and I were trying to conceive, but there were medical complications. We went to a lot of doctors, but that was in the 1970s and 1980s, when the clinics weren't that good. Not being able to have a baby was undeniably embarrassing, but we were embroiled in legal proceedings,” he says.

The couple say they almost gave up when they saw an ad from a reproductive health clinic. With the use of donor eggs, Daliginder Kaur, after two years of trying, was able to give birth to a healthy baby boy in April.

The happy mother says, “God has heard our prayers. Now my life is complete. I take care of the child myself. I feel full of energy. My husband is also very caring and helps me whenever he can.” “When we saw the commercial for in vitro fertilization, we thought we should give it a try, because I really wanted to have my own baby,” she adds.

Anurag Bishnoi, an embryologist and owner of the clinic where the woman was seen, said: “It was a moment of great happiness for them… According to Indian law, children over 45 cannot be adopted.”

Gill adds: “People ask what will happen to the baby after we die. But I completely rely on God.”
