It was positioned as a "daily newspaper of politics, public life and literature". Later, it was considered a "non-party organ" and repeatedly announced to its readers that it was the voice of Russian people of moderate-advanced views. In fact, the direction of the publication was reactionary.
Often illustrated supplements were delivered to subscribers along with the newspaper. One of these "dopnikov" was the "Album of Russian beauties". The album was released together with one of the issues of 1904 and contained photos of the most beautiful representatives of all cultures who lived at that time on the territory of the Russian Empire. It is quite possible that the "collection of beauty" was intended to show all the beautiful diversity of the Great Empire, or maybe just to cheer up the male half of subscribers.
