"Vodka" beach in Primorye-from a dump of bottles to a tourist attraction
In the Ussuri Bay there is an amazing place where the coast of the Pacific Ocean is covered with sparkling colored pebbles. These are fragments of bottles, dishes and tiles, turned by waves to smooth circles.
In Soviet times, unnecessary glass bottles and waste from a local porcelain factory were dumped on this shore by trucks.
Over time, the waves polished the glass fragments to smooth circles.
Now people pay small fees to admire this coast.
From Vladivostok to the beach is about a 30-minute drive. Tourists are impressed by the shining beach, clear water and a magnificent view.
"Glassy", as the locals call the coast, is especially good on sunny winter days.
In summer, the glass sparkles against the background of black volcanic sand.
A similar beach is located in California: at the beginning of the XX century, waste was dumped there, then they decided to destroy the landfill and the garbage was burned. In 1967, the territory was closed — nature did the rest.
