TripAdvisor teaches you how to visit the best restaurants and hotels in Tokyo and not go broke

Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is considered one of the most expensive cities in the world according to a recent study by the travel portal TripAdvisor. In fact, only a trip to New York will cost you more. But TripAdvisor also talked about high-rated places where you can stay, have lunch and see the sights without making a fair hole in the budget. Analysts of the portal claim that a trip for two for three nights, including air tickets, will cost less than two thousand dollars.

Flight

There are different airlines flying to Tokyo, and connecting routes are usually cheaper than direct flights. In September, you can fly from London with SriLankan Airlines for $ 640 with a transfer to Colombo. A round-trip ticket by Air India will cost a little more, $ 665 round trip with a transfer to New Delhi. Japan Airlines and Japan's flagship carrier ANA have direct flights, but they will cost two or three times more. Many who have visited Tokyo recommend the Richmond Hotel Asakusa due to the magnificent views and the price of $ 165 per night.

To truly experience the Japanese atmosphere, TripAdvisor offers to stay in Ryokan, a traditional Japanese-style hotel. Ryokan Sawanoya near Ueno Park is a traditional family hotel, which was ranked in the top ten hotels according to Travelers’ version Choice Awards in 2016.

Where to eat

Tokyo is famous for its culinary choices. It is no coincidence that this is the city with the largest number of Michelin restaurants in the world. Of course, there are plenty of first-class gourmet establishments here, but there are also less expensive alternatives.

TripAdvisor users liked the Ichiran Cafe in the Shibuya area, especially the noodle-based dishes. One of the varieties of noodles is in the photo. This cafe has a system of traffic lights that show if one of the booths is vacant. Mini-cabins can accommodate only two people.

The Asakusa Okonomiyaki Sometaro Restaurant, a short walk from the Senso-ji Temple in Taito, specializes in Japanese pancakes (pictured), which are prepared right in front of visitors. This restaurant is the holder of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Another highly rated restaurant in Shibuya is Harajuku Gyozaro, it specializes in Japanese gyoza dumplings (pictured). The guests especially liked the informal atmosphere and the signature sauce "goma".

What to see

The cultural program in Tokyo can be very extensive and at the same time free. One of the most famous places is Ueno Park in Taito, where locals like to gather in spring to admire the cherry blossoms. It also houses several key museums of the Japanese capital, including the National Museum of Tokyo.

In the Asakusa area, you can see the famous Senso-ji Buddhist Temple and explore local shops and restaurants.
