This artist won't mind if you call her art trash: Jane Perkins creates amazing portraits from things she finds in garbage dumps and flea markets. The 55-year-old Brit expertly recreates famous faces and iconic artwork from buttons, pieces of cheap jewelry, old toys and more.

“I love art with an element of fun and the unexpected. I use random small objects: plastic toys, shells, beads, and so on. I do not color the materials - they appear in their original form. Works should be viewed first from a distance to recognize the image as a whole, and then close up to see the materials, ”says Jane.

The artist says that she finds things not only at a flea market and trash cans - friends, neighbors, and acquaintances bring something. Sometimes she finds packages with things on the threshold of her house, and then takes them all apart with pleasure. Two local charities also collect material for her future work, and Jane then donates some of the money she makes to them.

“I put the most effort into creating a portrait of an Afghan girl - it was necessary to get the necessary facial expression: she has a piercing accusatory look. I also had to get permission from American photographer Steve McCary. The profits went to Imagine-Asia Inc., a charity that sponsors the education of Afghan girls outside of Afghanistan.”

In our selection you will find portraits of Albert Einstein, Queen Elizabeth II, as well as copies of classic masterpieces: Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Da Vinci's Gioconda.
