No one doubts that sellers began to weigh buyers immediately after the invention of scales. But I still wanted to believe that people used to be kinder and more decent. The last hopes for this were dashed after Israeli archaeologists discovered an ancient weight made specifically for hanging buyers in Jerusalem.

The discovery was made in the City of David – the historical district of Jerusalem, which today turned out to be outside the city limits. The kettlebell, which shows the weight of two gers (0.944 grams), is actually almost four times heavier and weighs 3.61 grams. This item is 2,700 years old, so it is quite clear that even before the birth of Christ in Jerusalem, buyers were deceived in the most shameless way.

The tricky weight is made of solid limestone and has a diameter of 14 mm and a height of 12 mm. Israeli scientists have already found a similar artifact before, but then the "error" in weight was not so serious. Merchants used this type of weights to show the buyer that the product weighs more than it actually does.

This method of body kit is still practiced where digital technology is not yet in high esteem and analog scales with weights are used. Historians have found a mention of merchants who weigh buyers in the Bible.

As we can see, the Scripture condemns these people in every possible way, but, obviously, not everyone in ancient times sought to live according to the biblical canons. Now it is much easier to deceive the buyer, because in order to sell something, it is not necessary to meet in person and you do not even need to break the law.
