Herman Damar is a self-taught photographer based in Jakarta. But in the capital of Indonesia, Damar hardly takes pictures. His characters are residents of the suburbs.

1. Most often, Herman Damar takes pictures of children.

2. Most of the photographer's shots were taken spontaneously.

3. There are almost no staged shots - although sometimes Damar makes exceptions.

4. According to the photographer, the best way to take such pictures is to spend as much time as possible among these people.

5. The most suitable time for filming Damar considers the time from 7 to 9 o'clock in the morning.

6. “Indonesian people are very humble, they are very happy when I photograph them,” says Herman Damar.

7. Time seems to have stopped here, and the fast pace of life has not touched the inhabitants.
