By Pictolic https://mail.pictolic.com/article/the-most-beautiful-library-in-the-world.htmlThe National Library of the Czech Republic occupies the Clementinum building complex, a wildly beautiful and ornate example of Baroque architecture. In 1722 a Jesuit university was opened there, and in 1781 the Bibliotheca Nationalis, a collection of literature in the Czech language, was established. Today, the library holds more than 20,000 books. A number of rare historical editions will soon be scanned and posted on Google Books.
Some interesting facts about the Clementinum: it was the third largest Jesuit educational institution in the world; observations of the weather here began in 1775; Clementinum is mentioned in a novel by famous Spanish writer Jorge Luis Borges.
