The amazing life of the sea Gypsies of Borneo
Since time immemorial, the representatives of the people Bajo lived in small boats on which they are day and night adrift, relying only on luck and your fishing skills. That's how they earned their nickname — the "sea Gypsies". Most of them used to live, all the time hiding, so to this day live away from civilization, unnoticed in their floating villages on coral reefs. But today, many Bajo went ashore to settle on small Islands near Borneo, and yet the representatives of this wonderful nation continued to develop his knowledge about the ocean and to sell fish.
French photographer Reann spent a few days with the sea Gypsies. Deep down he will always retain a sense of peace and serenity, which came to him after visiting these magical places and discover with these incredible people who have nothing in common with the inhabitants of the West.

The whole life of the sea Gypsies centered around fishing. Members of the tribe can't even read or write.

Everyone has their place on fishing, regardless of age.

Bajo — sea nomads — not recognized and adopted by the neighboring countries, but they have chosen their way of life and live in their own little Paradise.

Bajo don't know how old they are. They do not imagine what the age. They are important only in the present moment.

Women give birth right here in huts on stilts. Most of the members of a tribe is born, lives and dies in their native land (or rather, in the native water).

Small children spend all their time on boats, learn to swim and dive. And the older children (approximately eight years) are already engaged in fishing.
