The photos below are a brief announcement of the competition from Sony World Photography Awards–2019.

Some of them are staged, others turned out completely by accident. At the same time, competitive works cannot be combined in one direction or style. Sony World Photography Awards is a unique competition, the distinctive feature of which is complete openness, including regarding the subject of photos.

So, for example, among the contenders for victory, you can note pictures from a drone, a photo of a huge iceberg or underwater photography.

The author of this landscape is the Italian photographer Marco Giaotti. The frame was taken on the Svalbard archipelago. 

The judges will be the people who set the trend in the world of professional photography – Emma Lewis, Oliver Lawrence and Mike Trow.

Sebastian Leban captured the celebration of Purim in one of the schools in Jerusalem.

Kristy Lee Rogers commented on her own shot this way: "This shot was taken in Hawaii and is part of a set called "Muses". We used the pool and water as a canvas, the play of reflected light and the movement of models to show an altered reality. All the pictures were taken at night to fully control the lighting."

A picture of female workers painting umbrellas in Myanmar. The author says that in order to achieve the contrast of such red, yellow, blue and green, he had to shoot the scene 4 times, which took 4 months.

A unique snapshot of Yi Han's authorship shows the moment when a group of visually impaired cinema visitors "watch" a movie. The author notes that the photo was taken in Shanghai, where such screenings are often held for citizens with disabilities. During the film screenings, invited famous TV presenters and announcers are in the hall and tell the audience about what is happening on the screen.

The competition includes 10 categories. Some of them show objects in motion, in the center of the composition of others – landscape or animals.

The photographer managed to capture how the hyena yawns. The frame was taken in the national park of the Indian state of Jaipur.
