Scientists have explained why women open their mouths when they dye their eyelashes

Many have noticed that women who apply makeup constantly change their facial expressions. Some of these grimaces are cute and funny. But the ladies themselves cannot explain why they arise. For example, why is it more convenient to paint eyelashes with an open mouth? It is unlikely that women will give you an answer. But scientists have figured out and explained this unusual phenomenon.

Human physiology is to blame for everything. Neuroscientists say that when a girl paints her eyes, three nerves work: the trigeminal, facial and oculomotor. They are responsible for the involuntary opening of the mouth when applying mascara. This happens because of the coordinated work of three nerves, each of which has its own area of responsibility.

The trigeminal nerve is responsible for the movement of the masticatory muscles that open and close the jaw. The facial and oculomotor nerves control the movement of the eyeballs and eyelids. It seems to have nothing in common, but the thing is that these nerves are located side by side. Therefore, when one of them is activated, the others may also react.

To make up her eyelashes qualitatively, a woman has to open her eyes as wide as possible. At the same time, the oculomotor nerve is included in the work, and with it the trigeminal nerve for company. Because of this, the mouth involuntarily opens and the same facial expression that raises questions arises.

It should be said separately that the situation is not hopeless. Opening the mouth can be avoided with a little effort, just by controlling the jaw. But who thinks about it when applying makeup? At the same time, the system does not work in the opposite direction — when chewing food, the eyes do not bulge, as well as when applying lipstick. No one knows why this happens. Perhaps neuroscientists will soon find an answer to this question.

But there are also eyelashes, at the sight of which, on the contrary, everyone around opens their mouth. Now it looks strange, but who knows, maybe soon we will see this beauty on the streets.
