Russian Veterinarian Faces Jail for Saving Animals from Death
26-year-old Bagrat Agazhanov from Chelyabinsk saved pets from euthanasia, but now he can pay for his spiritual kindness and face trial. The fact is that the guy is accused of violating the law on the provision of paid medical services.
The animal rights activist, who wrote a statement to the prosecutor's office, claims that Agazhanov's actions fall under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Fraud").
Sometimes pet owners do not have the opportunity to take care of their sick pets properly, so they decide on a procedure of euthanasia to save them from suffering. At the clinic where he works Bagrat Agazhanov, this procedure is also carried out. It was because of her that the scandal around the hero of our material arose.
The fact is that the 26-year-old veterinarian took money from the owners of the animals for euthanasia, but spent it on food and treatment, after which he placed the pets in good hands. So, the guy managed to save more than one life, but some people did not appreciate his aspirations.
A zookeeper and a lawyer for the treatment of pets, Anna Razinova, wrote a statement to the prosecutor's office demanding that Agazhanov be brought to criminal responsibility for violating the law on the provision of paid medical services. According to the woman, the veterinarian had no right to take money from the owners for euthanasia and spend it in some other way.
Now the young man faces a prison sentence. But we sincerely hope that justice will prevail. Moreover, public figures are already standing up for Agazhanov. For example, a trainer Edgard Zapashny was genuinely surprised that an animal rights activist with 15 years of experience did not stand up for the guy, but on the contrary, decided to accuse him of "saving animals".
Netizens are also shocked by what is happening. Here are the comments they leave under the news:
What do you think about this? Do you think the young man is right?
