Ronda is a small but very colorful Spanish town located in the northwest of the province of Malaga. On the official website of the city, it is called the soul of Andalusia - and for good reason, because its unique charm does not leave indifferent any tourist who has been here. 1. The main feature of the city is its location - it is a hill, divided in two by a deep gorge, along the bottom of which the Guadalevín River flows.

2. Residential buildings are comfortably located on both sides of the gorge, so from any side of the city you can admire the beautiful views of the surroundings below.

4. The city was founded by the Romans in the VI century BC, and then the settlement was called Arunda.

5. During the period of its existence, the city managed to survive both the invasion of the Phoenicians, and the conquest by the Greeks, who gave it its modern name, and the Muslim period of rule. Each of these cultures left something of itself within the walls of the city, so the architecture of Ronda is very interesting and rich in historical monuments from different eras.

Historically, Ronda was divided into three districts: the most ancient of all San Francisco; having a large number of religious buildings and palaces La Ciudad; as well as the most modern El Mercadillo, which attracts guests of the city with its souvenir shops. Each of these areas surprises tourists with beautiful sights - from ancient churches and monasteries to luxurious palaces with terraces descending to the gorge.

7. The main attraction of the city is the New Bridge across the Tajo Gorge called Puente Nuevo. It was built between 1759 and 1793, and its total height is 98 meters. It is noteworthy that earlier the interior of the bridge was used as prison cells.

8. There is also the Old PuenteViejo Bridge in Ronda, located a little lower along the gorge.

9. In Ronda, you can see the Arab baths, which are supplied with water from the Serpentine Creek using aqueducts, the oldest bullring in the world, and a magnificent botanical garden with breathtaking views.

10. All trade in Ronda is concentrated on Carrera Espinel Street (calle Carrera Espinel) - this is where many tourists drop in in search of memorable souvenirs. But the main thing that you will take away from here is vivid impressions and a desire to return here again.
