Marilyn is a professional artist with a higher education; she has been painting and drawing for many years, using a whole range of art materials, and it was then that she realized that mixing materials and techniques gives very interesting results. Therefore, when a pumpkin came into her artistic field of vision, the question of how exactly to decorate it did not even arise. Of course, whatever! The main thing is beauty.

An intricacy of leaves, berries and flowers, figures of butterflies and birds cover the sculptures with interesting lace, turning an ordinary vegetable into a masterpiece that you want to admire, touch and examine.

Marilyn has participated in competitions and international exhibitions more than once and has already received many awards for her work. Inspired by the beauty of nature and drawing on the mood of the world around us, the artist decorates her pumpkins with various patterns and ornaments.

She paints carved, exquisitely crafted vases in accordance with the plan and sometimes the result differs significantly from the original idea.

Marilyn Sunderland shares her secrets. For example, before she starts working, she removes its pulp, leaving only the walls. Then she processes the walls using a special technology, and then applies layers of acrylic or oil paint.

Only after the pumpkin is primed does Marilyn begin to carve her stories and fancy patterns on it. She often cuts out flowers, leaves and other details from other pumpkins and glues them onto the main pumpkin. The result is voluminous, incredibly complex work.
