Now they will include previously unreleased compositions. Eight album covers also fell under the wave of the retrospective. Warner Music Group has announced an agreement with Phil Collins to re-release all of his solo albums, the first being 1981's Face Value and 1993's Both Sides.
The singer said: “Honestly, I never liked it when musicians seriously talk about re-releasing their stuff, but they just put discs in new covers. So when Warner put forward their proposals, I liked the idea of adding recordings to the classic versions of the albums that could explain how these songs were written, how they lived. It could be the earliest sketches, and live versions, which were very different from the album ones. As a result, with each original album, we offer a CD with live versions of the songs.”

“We first decided to re-release the albums Face Value and my favorite Both Sides. I hope people can rediscover this music. Another idea that I liked was to reshoot my portraits for the covers. The Face Value cover is the same angle, but this is me today.
For example, the reissue of Face Value looks like this: on one disc - remastered versions of songs from the album in a familiar order. And on the other, among the live versions of these things, you can find, for example, a demo version of the song Please Don't Ask, which before the start of my solo career could be heard at Genesis concerts. It was not included in the album, but during this period I was working on my own reading of it and ended up releasing this sketch now.
It's also interesting to show people the original version of Misunderstanding, which I wrote for Face Value but ended up putting on the Genesis album "Duke".
Or the song The Roof Is Leaking. It's on the album, but on the reissue you'll find a version that I recorded in my home studio, never heard before. Eric Clapton's wonderful slide guitar is on there.
We also released an instrumental called And So To F, which was played live only. In the new versions of other albums, you will also find things that I, as it is now clear, did not manage in the best way. They deserved a different fate."
