Paris residents found an "ejected whale" on the Seine embankment
On the morning of July 22, a sperm whale appeared on the Seine embankment in Paris. In fact, whales live in salty ocean waters and are not thrown onto the shores of freshwater rivers 160 kilometers from the sea. But the fact remained that a whale had arrived in Paris.

When you walk along the city embankment, it is quite unpleasant to meet a dead whale — however, it captures attention, which is what the authors of the installation sought.

Some of the passers-by who met the sperm whale reported that the statue even smelled like an ejected whale: "The whale is in Paris. Protect the whales and the ocean! It's incredible, and the smell is so believable… It's crazy."

The whale statue on the embankment was installed by the authors of the Captain Boomer project, named after the character in the novel "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville. Probably, the installation was timed to coincide with the World Whale and Dolphin Day on July 23.

The team has installed similar statues in other places around the world — usually in public spaces, so that as many people as possible could encounter the installation and learn more about sperm whales and their habitat.

Each such statue is accompanied by a group of scientists who tell passers-by about whales.
