One Thousand and One books by Mike Stilka

Mike Stilkey, an illustrator from Los Angeles, creates paintings using old books as canvases for his works. The author himself calls his paintings book sculptures.

No, Mike Stilki is not a vandal stealing books from libraries. The material for his paintings, which can rather be called installations, he receives from libraries, which willingly give away books that do not enjoy the interest of readers. And if it wasn't for Mike Stilki, these books would have been scrapped.

Stilki himself no longer remembers why he decided to use the books in such a peculiar way. It's just that one day he realized that the covers of old books are very suitable for drawing with ink, colored pencils, acrylic paints and varnish.

Before starting work, Stylki picks up books for a long time, systematizing them by color and material of the spines and titles.

This is how a bizarre world is born, populated by eccentric men, mysterious women and animals playing musical instruments.

Perhaps if Lewis Carroll had been an artist instead of a writer at the time, Alice's journey would have looked exactly like this.
