New breed of 'bulldog cats' sparks protests from animal rights activists

New breeds of domestic animals appear in the world regularly. Previously, this caused delight and admiration for the skill of breeders. Now, more often than not, everything ends with protests from veterinarians and animal rights activists. This is what happened with the new breed of "bulldog cats" Bully Cat, recently bred in Great Britain.

Cats of this breed are called differently: bulldog cats or hooligan cats. Recently, they have become real stars of social networks, despite their not very attractive appearance. In fact, they look like miniature squat bulldogs with a sullen and even aggressive expression on their faces.

The Bully Cat breed appeared quite recently as a result of crossing a Sphynx and a Munchkin. These cats appeared in Great Britain and immediately became very popular there. Catteries specializing in these animals appeared in the country. In social networks, content with "bulldog cats" always collects a lot of likes and views.

But animal rights activists are not at all thrilled with the new "designer" cat. They believe that the anatomy of these animals will inevitably cause them to suffer. Short and crooked legs always put stress on the joints, and bare wrinkled skin creates the preconditions for the appearance of skin diseases.

This is a very new breed, so it is impossible to name all the problems that will haunt it. Veterinarians believe that the list may be expanded and genetic problems may appear. Associate Professor of Pet Epidemiology at the Royal Veterinary College in the UK Dan O'Neill comments on this:

Of course, breeders of the new breed and owners of "bulldog cats" disagree with this. They assure that their pets are the most ordinary cats, healthy, cheerful and playful. They also have the right to exist, like other breeds.
