Naked: hundreds of Britons bathed naked in the North Sea for charity

Several hundred residents of the UK stripped naked and bathed in the cold water of the North Sea, thus taking part in the annual event of the charity organization MIND. The annual swim in what the mother gave birth to is held after the autumnal equinox in the county of Northumberland. Within its framework, funds are being raised to help mentally ill people. The event is called North East Skinny Dip ("Northeastern skinny dipping").

The event, taking place for the fifth time, is held annually at dawn on the first Sunday after the autumnal equinox (this year it fell on Thursday, September 22).

The organizer of the event, 38-year-old medic Jax Higginson from Sunderland, said that this year's meeting was the best she had seen: "Everything was done very well. There were a lot of people this year, which means we raised a lot of money."

"In 2011, I took part in a similar event in Wales. Then I really wanted to do something like this here in North-East England. The atmosphere was very pleasant, there was a certain magical energy. Our impromptu swim is taking place for the fifth time, and there are people who take part in it every year. I think we have every reason to say that a kind of community has developed," said Jax Higginson.

By the way, this year, for the first time in five years, the weather was not favorable to the participants of the bathing. "They were lucky at least that the rain stopped for the time of bathing!" — said one of the onlookers.

"To be honest, the weather was so-so: it was very cold. So those who decided to plunge into this cold water are real heroes," a man watching the action from the side shared.

This year, almost 500 people took part in charity bathing, so it would be appropriate to say that the waters of Druridge Bay were simply teeming with the naked bodies of brave Britons. What can you not do for the sake of helping people suffering from mental illness!
