The designer, who brings new meaning to the phrase “less is more”, showed off his latest collection of swimwear made entirely from duct tape.

Tape King Joel Alvarez founded the Black Tape Project fashion brand back in 2008 and uses a wide range of different types, including mirrored and metallic tones, to create custom designs.

His latest collection saw models walk the Faena Forum runway in Miami Beach on Saturday night, with Alvarez creating some of his simpler designs live in front of an audience.

Designer Joel Alvarez says he first came up with the idea of using tape from a model, saying, “One day in 2008, I was a novice photographer working with a model who suggested I use tape for a final look. To be honest, I had no idea why she needed it, but to make her happy, I tried to use this ribbon as a wardrobe item.”
