Once upon a time, planes had much more space, a stylish interior, and a brighter design. In the 1970s, Europeans could enjoy flying in an elite club environment aboard a Boeing 747.

This model began to be developed in the 1960s, when the airline Pan Am ordered a plane from Boeing for 400 seats. The head of the airline planned to make the plane double-decker, but the design team of Boeing doubted that this is a good idea.
The designers were in favor of a wide fuselage, which at that time was more justified from an engineering and economic point of view, as well as from the point of view of safety. Boeing built a prototype aircraft cabin, which was then used in the real aircraft of the airlines Pan Am, TWA, American, United, National, Continental, Iberia, JAL and SAS.

First class, as now, was upstairs. There was plenty of room to sit in, like a real living room.

A later version of the design of the first class on board the Boeing 747.

Comfortable sofas for the most demanding passengers.

A characteristic feature is the wide seats and the lack of shelves for hand luggage above your head.

Entrance to the first-class cabin.

A cozy corner, isn't it?

Lounge area with cup holders and ashtrays.

Funny and beautiful flight attendants.

Plenty of legroom.

Above the middle row of seats there are no shelves for hand luggage, and the side ones are not as large as they are now.

In the first class, all conditions are created for passengers to fully relax.

Here, even the luggage compartment looks like a scene from Kubrick's 2001 film A Space Odyssey.
