The American Bee Survey and Monitoring Program is a project run by biologists from the US Geological Society in Maryland. As part of their work, they create tools to identify the main bee species by recreating accurate and detailed images of the bees, plants and insects that the bees interact with. The biologists set up a mini-studio surrounded by a Styrofoam cooler with a black background to make their macro shots perfect. Here are some photos from this amazing collection.
