By Pictolic https://mail.pictolic.com/article/life-woke-up-in-death-valley-the-desert-was-covered-with-bright-colors.htmlFor the first time in 10 years, the American Death Valley - the hottest point in North America - was covered with bright colors of flowering plants. Death Valley is an intermountain depression in the Mojave Desert and the Great Basin in the western United States in the state of California. The average maximum temperature in July reaches +46 °C, at night - up to +31 °C. The coolest time is from the end of November to February (+5…+20 °C). During this period, it rains in the Valley and there are slight frosts. And in July 1913, a world temperature record was set here: +56.7 °C.
Many deserts on earth are covered with flowers from time to time: the wind brings seeds into the soil, which await rainfall and other favorable weather conditions. The arid Atacama Desert in Chile recently bloomed for the second time in a year.
The rapid bloom of Death Valley, observed in February 2016 for the first time in the last 10 years, is caused by heavy rains that hit it last fall. Water watered the dried-up earth, and in the spring, with an increase in daylight hours, the rapid growth of plants began.
