The designer of the garden was the Frenchman Guillame Beaumont, the creator of some other English gardens, such as, for example, Hampton Court, but only Levens Hall has survived to our time.


Although he was a student of Andre Lenotre, the father of the French regular style, his gardens are not at all similar to the traditional French ones of that period.


The gardens were founded at the end of the 17th century, and the estate itself was four centuries earlier
