And it's not just about appearance and pretty facial features. The holder of the title must be a person with a soul, actively participate in solving social problems, and, for example, act in films that are at least pleasant to watch.
In most cases, if the choice is not obvious, then we definitely expect it. With half of the titled persons, we ourselves are not averse to riding horses into the sunset. However, this year's choice surprised many. In early November, People magazine announced that country singer Blake Shelton would grace the cover as the "Sexiest Man".
Shelton is not particularly well known in Russia, because country music and good old cowboy charm do not fit too well with our lifestyle. Perhaps he is known because he is dating the beautiful Gwen Stefani.
The choice of the magazine caused particular bewilderment among Internet users, who are well aware that the singer supported the unpopular presidential candidate Donald Trump and that he periodically makes racist and homophobic statements on Twitter.
But it seems Blake Shelton is happy with the appointment: "I've been ugly all my life. If I can be the sexiest man for a whole year, I don't mind." While passions are boiling around the choice of the magazine, we will remember all the hot men according to People.
