Intimate photos of the Rolling Stones, John Lennon and other stars by Michael Putland

According to Michael Putland himself, in the 70s he did not have days off. The renowned photographer has been capturing rock stars at close range for four decades. Rolling Stones, John Lennon, David Bowie — among the heroes of his pictures are many popular musicians of that time. These days, an exhibition of his works is being held in London, made during numerous parties held together with the musical creative elite.

This photo of T. Rex lead singer Marc Bolan was taken at the peak of his fame, during recording at the studio located in the Chateau d’Herouville is near Paris. Putland remembers him as "a very nice, but a little arrogant guy."
