In Iran, the authorities disrupted the wedding of a 9-year-old bride and a 28-year-old groom

Everyone knows that in the countries of developed Islam, early marriages are not unusual. Such countries include Iran, where a wedding took place recently between a 9-year-old girl and a 28-year-old man. Strangely enough, the authorities of the country, who had previously been loyal to such unions, intervened in the personal life of the newlyweds.

The marriage between Milad Cheshani (Milad Cheshani), a fighter of the Basij militia, part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Fatima Sayyadi (Fatima Sayyadi) was considered an absolutely settled matter. The marriage was approved not only by relatives, but also by the Islamic court of the district, which is free to punish or pardon, marry or divorce.

The wedding of a handsome soldier and a very young bride was widely covered by the media. Videos and photos from the celebration appeared in magazines, TV stories and social networks. It was precisely because the event was publicized that the public became interested in it.

The first to sound the alarm was Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad. She posted a video from the girl's wedding on Twitter with a note that it made her cry. Masih focused the attention of social network users on the fact that the bride is not 13 years old at the time of the wedding, according to the law of the country.

Alinejad's subscribers were also outraged by the wedding, organized according to Islamic laws, and began to appeal to public organizations en masse.

Government officials, who tend to turn a blind eye to such facts, this time were forced to intervene and terminate the illegal marriage with their power.

The sudden divorce of the newlyweds was first reported by journalist Babak Taghvaee (Babak Taghvaee), also on Twitter. His post is replete with harsh definitions, for example, the newlywed is called a "28-year-old pedophile."

The bride, who can marry according to the laws of the country only after 4 years, went down the aisle not according to the laws of the state, but according to religious canons. Until 2002, this was a common practice, but then a law was passed that the bride must be at least 13 years old at the time of the wedding, and the groom must be at least 15.

At the same time, local religious communities are not too concerned about compliance with the laws and massively marry adult men and children 9-10 years old. Imams believe that such early weddings prevent extramarital affairs, which are punished as severely as possible in Iran.
