Canadian photographer David Burden (David Burden) has been working on a major photo project for some time. He began shooting the SALT: Fields, Plottings, and Extracts series using aerial photography to explore some of the world's most colorful saltworks in Utah, Mexico, and Australia. When you look at these pictures, it is difficult to determine whether these colors and transitions of colors are painting or photography, whether they are man-made or created by nature itself.

The essay about this photo project says: "In their use of amorphous shapes, sprawling fields of color, and vertical, zigzag, and flowing lines, Bardeny's images recall the painterly expressiveness of Rothko, Still, Newman, Diebenkorn, and the late Willem de Kooning."
