"I thought I had to beat the shit out of them": an Englishman stopped three terrorists with his bare hands
Last Saturday evening, 47-year-old Roy Larner spent at the London restaurant Black & Blue. He was finishing his fifth pint of beer when three men armed with hunting knives burst inside shouting "Islam, Islam". The same terrorists who shot down several passers-by on London Bridge, and then staged a massacre on the street. Roy, of course, had no idea who they were, but immediately rose to meet them.
"I started yelling at them like an idiot," says Roy, lying in a ward for patients in serious condition. — I thought I should beat the shit out of these assholes. I took a few steps towards them and shouted: "Go to hell! I'm rooting for Millwall! After that, these freaks piled on me."

Millwall Football Club fans have long earned a reputation as the most frostbitten in Britain. Even after the wave of fan violence subsided, they repeatedly staged carnage. Roy has often been in the thick of things, so he knows how to fight.
Alcohol gave courage. While people were running out of the restaurant, Roy alone tried to detain the terrorists as much as possible. He beat with all his might and received one wound after another — on the head, chest, both arms. The beer was bubbling in my head and did not let the pain come through. After a few minutes of fighting, the Islamists retreated.
The terrorists ran out into the street, Roy rushed after them. He saw the trio heading towards a nearby pub, then the police opened fire and all three fell. Only then did Larner realize that he was bleeding. The hero was taken to the hospital in critical condition. But he quickly got better.
Roy's mother, Phyllis Larner, was not too surprised by the story that happened to her son. "He is sharp, arrogant, fearless and will not back down from the fight," says Phyllis. "He doesn't care who is opposite, whether he has a knife or a gun in his hands." Friend Mark Church jokingly brought Roy the magazine "Learning to Run". Although he knows that he would rather die than run.
Mark decided to raise 500 pounds for a friend for treatment through a crowdfunding service. At the moment, almost 40 thousand have been listed. Also on the website change.org A petition has appeared calling for Roy Larner to be awarded the George Cross, the UK's highest civilian award.
