Three men were rescued on a desert island in the Pacific on Thursday after staying there for three days. The lost sailors were noticed only by the fact that the men laid out the word "help" (HELP) with palm branches.
On the evening of April 4, the sailors set sail for Micronesia, but after a while the weather deteriorated, a storm began, and a small ship was overturned by an oncoming wave.

After their ship was shipwrecked, the sailors, wearing life jackets, swam three kilometers at night until they reached the nearest island.

Fanadik Island turned out to be uninhabited and was located 1400 kilometers northeast of the island of New Guinea. The next day after sailing, the sailors were put on the wanted list, as they did not arrive on time on one of the islands of the Federated States of Micronesia, where they were going.

The Coast Guard requested US Navy assistance from Japan. As a result, the crew of the Boeing P-8 Poseidon patrol aircraft found the sailors on Thursday.

While flying over the area, the patrol spotted a "Help" sign in the sand and three men brandishing orange life jackets. Later, representatives of the Coast Guard noted that it was the resourcefulness of these men that saved their lives.
