When she was little, her parents instilled in her the correct table etiquette. Therefore, Lois wondered if all families observe it and whether it is customary for them to sit down at the table together.
"My family members always got together for dinner (you had to ask permission to leave the table)," says Bielefeld. "I wasn't really interested in the food itself until I grew up and started cooking regularly and looking for my tastes. But even at a young age, I recognized that food unites people and is a way to explore different cultures."
Usually these pictures are displayed in a large format, which allows the viewer to join the meal depicted on them. "The project itself is filmed in the evenings from Monday to Thursday, because I wanted to capture the habits and rituals formed by the time pressure in the evenings of the week. People have more time on weekends," says the author of the photo project. "I work with series because I like to see similarities and differences in people in what is close to everyone — we all eat."
"I love all the little details in people's homes. I look at these pictures and large prints more often than anyone, and all the time I find new things in the photos that I didn't notice before," says the photographer.
