We have already told you about the strangest dishes from different cuisines of the world, among whom were Japanese.
But now we want to talk in more detail about this unusual Japanese delicacies as fried wasps. Yes, Yes, wasps! You didn't think!
Every year in Gifu Prefecture, Honshu island, is carried out Japan's largest festival of the OS called "Kusuhara khebo Matsuri". The event is held on the first Sunday of November. On this day people from all over the country bring on the holiday the real hornet's nest! And the owner of the hard socket and the winner gets a valuable reward.
The festival decided to prepare for a few months — catchers OS go into the woods there and put a bait in the form of fresh fish. After eating fish, insects return to their nests, and here the fun begins! Task catcher to keep up with the wasps to locate their nest.
When you find the nest, put it in a special wooden box where wasps continue to grow until fall. Insects don't bother until until they do not appear larvae.
It is important to note that we are talking about the black wasps "khebo" (this is the case, if you suddenly want to go to Japan and take part in the festival). Wasps of this species is not particularly aggressive, so they are easier to catch.
In addition, in Japanese cuisine, there are many dishes with these insects, such as wasps with rice in soy sauce (I say, it was one of the favorite delicacies of the deceased Emperor Hirohito), wasps in chocolate and roasted hornets. OS larvae also eat.
Try this unusual delicacy at the festival "Kusuhara khebo Matsuri". There is also sell hornet's nest especially for those who decided to cook a dish with "khebo" at home.
I must say that with each passing year the interest in the festival decreases and gradually eroding the tradition of the use of the OS in the food. Adhere to mostly the older generation ena district, Gifu Prefecture, where he is village Kurihara. Here breeding OS — you can tell it's a family thing.
It is not surprising that in Kashihara decided to immortalize this collective hobby, organising a festival. But those wishing to attend less — old people die, young people moved to the cities.
However, even at the risk that in a short time, the festival will cease to exist, the Japanese do not get upset. According to them, as long as any true seeker OS, the tradition will not disappear.
