The National Observatory of China on Tuesday declared a "red" danger level due to severe smog in several northern and eastern regions of the country. This is the first time in history that such a warning has been issued in China due to smog.

According to the National Meteorological Center of China, on Tuesday and Wednesday dense fog in parts of the region, including Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, as well as in the provinces of Henan, Shandong, Anhui and Jiangsu will reduce visibility to less than 500 meters. In some cases, visibility in these regions will not exceed 50 meters. Due to the increased level of danger, drivers are asked to slow down, and local airports are asked to take all necessary measures to prevent emergencies.

The "orange" level of danger remains in northern, eastern and central China. Smog has not been held here since December 30. China has adopted a four-level hazard designation system: blue, yellow, orange and red.
