63-year—old Kumari Nayak was born with polydactyly, an anomaly in which a person has extra fingers.
A resident of Orissa, India, says that because of her unusual appearance, she has to stay at home because her neighbors consider her a witch.
Superstitious locals try to avoid Kumari, and some come to look at her, but they never help.
The woman has no money for treatment. The Indian authorities provided her with a house and a pension. They are trying to convey to others that Kumari is not dangerous to society.
