Everywhere we have a road: the Briton invented a portable "zebra"
A fresh take on the fight for road safety: Inventor Yannick Reid built a portable pedestrian crossing. The idea came to him when he was worried about how his son would get to school.
Parents of school students asked the city authorities to arrange a safe pedestrian crossing, but they were refused due to the cost. Then Yannick invented the zebra for less than £50. The transition was made from recycled linoleum, drain pipes and two yellow balls and came out extremely realistic.
Local media became interested in Yannick's invention, and the authorities eventually made a real pedestrian crossing at the necessary place.
Yannick has since improved his designs - check out the photos! The inflatable invention fits in a bag.
