The shelves of the unique WeFood store are filled with cosmetics, household products and food products with significantly reduced retail prices - the markdown reaches 30 to 50 percent.

All available products are absolutely safe to consume, because most often they are discarded due to the approaching deadline for sale, incorrect labeling or damaged packaging.

The supermarket was opened by the Danish non-profit organization Fødevarebanken and the religious charity DanChurchAid, which fights poverty and hunger.

According to a DanChurchAid spokesperson, proceeds from the WeFood store will go to the organization's work in developing countries.

Since its opening last week, the store has been hugely popular, contributing to the fight against Denmark's staggering 700,000 tons of food waste every year.
