Cute kli-kai - miniature huskies living in Alaska

Everyone knows what huskies look like today. This breed has been breaking popularity records all over the world for several years in a row. Strong, hardy and large enough dogs are created for hunting and sledding. But it turns out that these hard workers of the north have younger brothers whose task is to please their owners.

Translated from the Eskimo language, Kli-kai is a "little dog". So the breeders simply called the new breed of dwarf huskies. These dogs were bred relatively recently, in the 1970s and are still considered very rare and expensive. Of course, because there are no more than 700 Kli-kai in the world and most of them live in the USA and Canada.

Even to see this miniature husky is a great happiness, and it is almost impossible to get such a friend. The queue for elite puppies is scheduled for years ahead, and the price of dogs is amazing. How did these funny dogs appear, repeating in miniature the formidable polar wanderers?

Kli-kai dogs are an exact copy of the big huskies. They are also smart, brave, playful and stubborn. They are not deprived of power, although it is not particularly important. This is a companion breed created to bring joy to people. It is only important to remember that this joy can be too much. If chickens, ducks or rabbits get in the way of a Kli-kai dog, the hunting instinct can defeat prudence.

The creator of the breed is considered to be the breeder Linda Sperlin from Wasilla, Alaska. She bred these dogs by mixing Alaskan huskies with Siberian, American Eskimo dogs and skipperkes. They say Sperlin violated the canons of breeding, trying to get the perfect breed. But her work was not in vain and the Kli-kai turned out to be incredibly cute.

The Alaskan Kli-kai breed standard, adopted in 1997, provides for three types of dogs: toy, miniature and standard. Their weight can be from 5 to 10 kg. Apart from the size, these dogs are no different from their "older" counterparts. They also need the company of a person, bathing in the snow and space for running and playing.
