By Pictolic https://mail.pictolic.com/article/chinese-border-between-russia-and-north-korea.htmlOn several occasions, Ian Teh made long, 1,000-kilometer road trips through small towns, large industrial cities, and the Chinese border area between Russia and North Korea to create this photography project called "China: Undercurrents."
The combination of photographs that reflect social, natural and political aspects gives us a glimpse into another world. We see the bustle of Chinese markets, where everyone is trying to please Russian tourists and entrepreneurs, and unusually quiet Chinese towns near the North Korean border. This zone was created to strengthen relations and border trade between these neighboring countries, once considered bastions of communism.
