Armor of the "gods": an epic battle of ancient enemies

By Pictolic https://mail.pictolic.com/article/armor-of-the-gods-an-epic-battle-of-ancient-enemies.htmlCanadian Jeff de Boer is a unique metal jewelry artist. For many years, he has been creating armor stylized for different historical epochs. Fine workmanship, finely crafted small details. Only this armor is intended for... cats and mice. If these ancient enemies had participated in medieval wars, took part in jousting tournaments, they would certainly have worn exactly such a vestment.
Jeff started making these unusual works of art more than 30 years ago as a small side project in the sculpture class. But in the end, the project turned out to be a job for life. The gladiatorial armor of Ancient Rome, the armor of Renaissance knights — over the years, Jeff has created armor of various styles and eras.

It would seem — why? Who needs it? Jeff de Boer himself says that once he tried to put armor on his cat, but the sharp claws and teeth of an indignant animal forced the artist to abandon this idea.

However, the value of Jeff de Boer's works lies elsewhere. These little things are so elegant, so historically authentic, that they are highly valued among collectors around the world and are among the most valuable (in every sense) gifts.

Jeff recently published a book that contains all his best works. Well, we can only imagine how cats and mice will put on this armor in an eternal war between ancient enemies.

Jeff uses various metals for his creations, but mostly bronze and copper. Working on one tiny mouse armor takes from 10 to 40 hours, and on a cat armor — from 50 to 200 hours.

In the author's unusual collection, you can find protective garments corresponding to various historical epochs and states: there is armor for gladiators, medieval knights, and samurai.
