One of my favorite places in Moscow was Novy Arbat or Kalininsky Prospekt. Probably, today it is funny, but for some it is not at all clear, but then it was Kalininsky for me (probably not only) that was such a piece of the future, a reference fragment of a modern city. It was a "piece of the West", if you like ... "

3. The neighborhood of the old church with the most beautiful, modern skyscraper was especially striking. On the one hand, it was puzzling why it was necessary to leave some kind of church at all, but on the other hand, it emphasized the grandeur and scale of the transformations. Many Soviet photo and just artists adored this angle. To me, a schoolboy, it's excusable, but to them?

4. It is interesting that today the sensations from this neighborhood are exactly the opposite. Just me? How are water and fire perceived by today's schoolchildren?)

5. Now it’s even scary to imagine how many monuments of history and architecture were irretrievably lost during the construction of Kalininsky Prospekt ... However, can we compare this with Via dei Fori Imperiali in the center of Rome, laid through ancient walls by order of Mussolini?
