The attack took place in the village of Al-Rauda near El-Arish, the capital of the province of North Sinai. According to preliminary data, there were about 500 people in the mosque. "For about 20 minutes they shot people fleeing after the explosion," survivors of the attack said.

A state of emergency has been declared in hospitals in North Sinai province. It is reported that 15 terrorists were killed, the army and police are looking for other participants in the attack.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has called an emergency meeting of the Security Council and declared three days of mourning in the country. No extremist group has yet claimed responsibility for the tragedy.
