In 1945, fashion photographer Andre de Dines had an affair with a budding young model named Norma Jean Dougherty. It resulted in a brief engagement and a huge portfolio of stunning photographs that helped her launch Marilyn Monroe's career. The "pumpkin" photo shoot for Halloween in 1945 is also the work of de Dines.

In the pictures taken in October 1945, the famous blonde is barely recognizable. Brown curls frame an almost childish face, and the figure is hidden under a denim suit and a wool Christmas jumper.

Then she was 19 years old, her name was Norma Jean Baker, the photos were taken by photographer Andre de Dines as part of the actress' first modeling portfolio.

Dines was clearly crazy about Norma Jean — describing his first meeting with the future star, he recalled that it was "like a miracle happened" and that she "seemed like an angel." Later, he shot a lot of Monroe, making, among other things, many photos of the actress, which later became iconic.

In these pictures, Monroe is young, happy and does not yet know about her stellar career or its tragic decline.
