He began his career as a photojournalist in San Francisco in the mid-1960s. On duty, he often had to photograph in suburban areas and soon it became his hobby, to which he devoted most of his free time from 1968 to 1978.
We have collected the most striking photographs of Bill Owens from his first book called "Suburbia" ("Suburbia").

1. “At first I was shocked, as if from contact with a new culture,” Bill Owens later recalled, “I just wanted to capture everything I saw, take thousands of photographs.”
