10 stupid selfies that led to an arrest

Sometimes an attempt to take a selfie can end in an arrest. Business Insider has compiled ten of the most telling examples.

1. Briton Ashley Kist took a selfie while robbing the house of a married couple. He took a picture with a phone found in the house and accidentally sent the photo in a mass mailing to some of the owner's contacts. Friends of the owner of the gadget called the police.

2. Two girls took a selfie before robbing a shop in Sweden for 400 euros. The police detained the teenagers in their grandmother's apartment, and during the search they found two ski masks, a knife and this self-shot on the phone of one of the suspects.

3. A resident of Nebraska named Kylie Hill ran onto the field during a baseball game in Omaha. Western blogs were bypassed by a photograph taken by journalists and Hill's own self-shot against the backdrop of an angry security guard.

4. A young man from Milan stole an iPad and took a selfie with it. The photo was uploaded to iCloud, after which the thief was arrested.

5. Almost the same story happened to 19-year-old Jess Ewald: the police published a selfie he took on a stolen iPhone. Later it turned out that Ewald was involved in several major thefts at once.

6. With teenagers Tikon Solomon and Terrence Systrik, about the same thing happened: they stole the phone and took a selfie on it, and the owner of the gadget noticed their photos in his iCloud and notified the authorities about it.

7. The photo, preserved in iCloud, let down 23-year-old La Vorne Lee Bennet, who not only stole the phone, but committed an armed robbery, threatening his victim with a gun.

8. 21-year-old Justin Baler took a selfie with a weapon and posted it on Facebook, after which he robbed a bank in Michigan. Investigators who were examining bank footage recognized him and arrested him.

9. Adam Howe's phone was found at the scene of a burglary. A selfie of the owner of the device helped the police find and arrest him.

10. A 16-year-old roofer managed to get into building 1 of the World Trade Center and take a selfie on the roof of the building. He was detained for illegal entry, and the guard, by whom the young man passed unnoticed, was fired.

11. Bonus: A photo of singer Rihanna with a fat loris led to the arrest of the owners of the animal, since in Thailand, where the picture was taken, lorises are protected by the state and it is forbidden to use them for the entertainment of tourists.
