Women's Kingdom - Kihnu Island in Estonia
An amazing place where women run everything is located on the Estonian island of Kihnu. The fair sex perform the hardest work - from farming to seal hunting - but do not complain about life.
The last society in Europe, where matriarchy reigns, is located only 10 square kilometers in the middle of pine forests surrounded by the Baltic Sea. See how the days of indefatigable workers pass on the island, further in our material.
For 300 years, the Estonian island of Kihnu has been mainly inhabited by women. Since the 19th century, men have spent most of the year at sea, fishing. Everything fell on the fragile female shoulders — from the upbringing of children to the organization of church life. Over time, despite globalization, the unique culture of Kihnu has been preserved. Despite everything, the ancient way of life has been preserved on the island.
There are still many interesting and little-known corners on Earth. An Italian photographer managed to capture the life of an unusual tribe of Dani, which lives in the mountains and smokes the remains of their ancestors at the stake.
