Lonely Bulgaria" is a long—term documentary photo project about life in small villages of my native country, about the severe demographic crisis. First of all, "Lonely Bulgaria" is a project about people," says Boryana.

Bulgaria, located in the eastern part of the Balkan peninsula, is going through a difficult change of political and economic formation, the transition from socialism to a market economy. Founded in 681, Bulgaria is one of the oldest states in Europe. In 2007, the country became a member of the European Union.
